The Pioneers West Historical Society Archives Collection is a continual work in progress.
Our oldest document is the "Partnership" land grant patent issued December 13, 1817
for the property on which the Walker-Ewing Log House is situated. The 437 acre,
131 perches property was surveyed in 1785 for brothers Gabriel and Isaac Walker with
the land grant having been issued to Isaac's son-in-law, William Ewing, in 1817.
Archives materials range from Walker and Ewing family photographs to images of documents
from other collections such as the Heinz History Center's Detre Library & Archives.
The John C. McMichael Collection showcases a wide variety of fascinating historical
materials with significance to western Allegheny County, PA. We are grateful to
Mr. McMichael for sharing these contributions from his family's personal archives.
